8-Hour Seminar Workshop on Interactive and Integrative Science Teaching
I. COURSE DESCRIPTION
This is an appreciation (PATIKIM) seminar–workshop for elementary and high school teachers of __________Name of School_________.
This seminar aims to provide the participants with sample activities that may be performed in and out of the classroom to promote interactive and integrative learning using inexpensive and readily available materials.
The activities will awaken the right brain and challenge the creativity and resourcefulness of the participants.
The training sessions will be dominated by experiments and exercises that are designed to be translated into class activities when the participants return to their respective stations.
II. PRIMARY OBJECTIVES
To become familiar with an old and yet seldom used method of teaching: The Practicum.
To upgrade skills in the use of laboratory tools and materials.
To appreciate the teaching-learning value of common things around us.
To appreciate the superiority of the interactive approach over the lecture method.
III. MINIMUN LEVEL OF COMPETENCE
After eight hours, each participant shall be able to:
Explain and carry out at least 50 interactive activities using low cost materials.
Identify and use proficiently at least 80% of the materials supplied.
Demonstrate preference for the interactive method over the lecture method.
